"I love you."

When you were a kid, did your parents always used to tell you that they loved you when you said goodbye? Mine did. As I got older, it kind of stopped, probably mostly because I was an embarrassed teenager. The other day I was thinking that I need to say "I love you" to people more often. I was leaving to go to dinner with a friend the other night and I told my mom that I loved her when I said goodbye. She said "Yeah." And I asked her why she always says that. She responded by saying "Why? It's not like you say it all the time." So I said, "Yeah, I know that and now I'm trying to make more of an effort to. Life is short. I mean, what happens if I never see you again?" She got the point and came up to me and hugged me and said "I love you too, baby."
Now, this doesn't only apply to family members, but also to friends. B/c I love them too and ,in fact, consider them like family. As you get older, you realize what's more important in life. Saying I love you is one of them. I know it's something small, but if you truly love a person, why not tell them? And worst case scenario, if you do never end up seeing them again, at least you know that you made an effort to let that person know that they were important to you. Like I said, life is short. Don't let it, or the people you love pass you by.
